On February 18, the 14th Ward Democratic Committee and the Heinz School of Information Systems and Public Policy at CMU are co-hosting a forum that will feature candidates for county executive. The event will be an opportunity for committee members and the general public to learn more about each candidate. Co-sponsors include the 14th Ward Independent Democratic Club, the 15th Ward Democratic Committee, the 31st Ward Democratic Committee, and the Allegheny County Democratic Committee Black Caucus.
Rich Fitzgerald, who has served as County Executive for the last decade, is not running for re-election due to term limits. Here are the candidates competing to replace him:
- John Weinstein, currently Allegheny County Treasurer
- Sara Innamorato, currently State Representative for District 21
- Michael Lamb, longtime Pittsburgh City Controller
- Erin McClelland, consultant with the Allegheny County Department of Health and Human Services
- Olivia Bennett, currently Allegheny County Councilor
- Dave Fawcett, former Allegheny County Councilor
On March 5, the ACDC will vote to endorse one of the candidates for the Democratic ticket.
The forum will be held at the McConomy Auditorium on the CMU campus and will also be live-streamed. Doors open at 12 pm; the event will begin at 1 pm. Get free tickets here.
